Dèlacroix Painting Defaced

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested by police for scrawling on a Eugene Dèlacroix’s painting, Liberty Leading the People, 28 July 1830. The painting was on view at the Louvre-Lens in northern France.

What drives these people to such action? But then again, why is art so precious?
