Art & Law Residency Program: Applications Due October 17, 2011
If you’re a visual artist, curator, or writer, and interested in the intersection of art and law, check out Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts’ Art & Law Residency Program. The program starts January 2012 and offers Van Lier Fellowships to two artists in the program. The Residency, its exhibition, and symposium all take place in New York City. All applications must be submitted by October 17, 2011.
Participation
Participants are required to attend semi-monthly Seminars as well as participate actively in group discussion and individual project and paper development. Participants who successfully complete the Seminar series will participate in the final Exhibition and Symposium. The semi-monthly Seminars will be held on Mondays at the law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP. Seminars commence in January 2012.
Eligibility
Applicants must have a minimum four-year professional record. Visual artists working in all media may apply. Writers and curators may have backgrounds in Art History, Art Theory, and Art Criticism and be strongly engaged with contemporary visual art. Artists, curators, and writers interested in issues of constitutional law, contracts, property, free speech, artists rights, privacy, obscenity, censorship, and intellectual property are especially encouraged to apply.
