Reuters reports that acting on a tip, Canadian police have found some of the missing loot taken from the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. No word yet on what condition it’s in or if the Mexican necklaces were recovered.

If you’ve recently bought some gold, or gold earrings, you may want to verify its provenance. Last Friday, some thieves broke into the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and took 15 pieces from its collection, all full of gold and appraised at $15 million. It was just announced today that Interpol (the police force, not the alternative rock band) has joined in the search. “There has been speculation the pieces may have been stolen to be melted down for their gold, while another theory is that thieves may have entered with a list drawn up by a collector,” notes the CBC. Keep an eye out at this weekend’s flea market because a $50,000 reward is now being offered for the safe return of the missing loot.
