The Visual Artists Rights Act Once Again Used to Protect Land

A small town in Virginia has been host to surveyors for the Mountain Valley Pipeline. In response, the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League- Woven Gaze, has created a massive sculptural eye out of various plant materials, and placed it on the property where the pipeline would be installed.

Their hope, as we have seen attempted before, is to utilize art laws such as the Visual Artists Rights Act to prevent the destruction of the work and by default the land it lives upon.
