The Absurdity of ‘The Death of The Author’ Claim

Got this quote from a friend. Nicely summarizes the “death of the author” absurdity.

“No one wonders, for example, why Roland Barthes signed his name to the famous essay ‘The Death of the Author’ (which is unfailingly cited as a main contribution to the postmodern genius critique). Nor does any one find it hypocritical that he cashed his royalty checks.” -K. E. GOVER
