Why Copyright Subjugates Art or, Why Art Is Special

My friend, artist and former MoFo attorney, Alfred Steiner, has just published a lengthy and interesting essay on why art should not be subjected to the stringent requirements of copyright law.

[M]ost attorneys I talk with seem to believe that copyright works just as it should in the context of the Art World. I happen to disagree.

Check it out. There are strong arguments worth considering, but I’m still very curious as to why art is so special? NYU law professor Amy Adler has some good arguments here.
