What Exactly Is the Art, the Drawing or the Certificate?

A collector claims in court that Chicago-based Rhona Hoffman Gallery lost the certificate of authenticity, signed by minimalist artist Sol LeWitt, without which his $350,000 wall drawing cannot be created, or sold.

This situation poses fascinating legal issues which we are only beginning to see yet not fully comprehend. We foresee these types of legal issues happening more often and in more complex ways.
