    Bullshit. At least the “third highest grossing criminal business after drugs and weapons”. The article in the Guardian suggests that it is a quote from MaryKate Cleary. Working with the ALR she has an agenda.

    This “third highest grossing criminal business after drugs and weapons” has been hovering for the past years but we all know a) there are no reliable statistics and b) there is no agreement on how to determine the value of stolen art.

    Also the “gangs often use paintings as collateral in big drug trades” is a fable. Yes, there are incidents documented but the ‘often’ part is nonsense.

    It is time for some real research.
