The Hunt for the Art

Starting today, the Boston Herald is launching an effort (including a blog) to help the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum recover $500 million in art stolen from Boston almost 19 years ago. The blog, “The Hunt for the Art,” launches tomorrow and will keep readers updated on promising new leads and theories. (Blog has been launched and can be viewed here.)

According to the Herald:

In the days and weeks ahead, the Herald and “America’s Most Wanted” will report on new findings, publish documents and interviews, and invite feedback from credible sources. We will provide phone numbers, e-mail addresses and online comment areas where you can tell what you know, anonymously or by name.

Here’s one sighting:

“I saw that painting,” Reissfelder said in an interview at the museum in the presence of the Gardner’s security chief, Anthony M. Amore, who is running the investigation. “When I see this I have the same reaction every time. ‘I’ve seen it. I’ve seen the painting.’ “

If you have information on this historic heist, contact Anthony Amore at theft@isgm.org or 617-278-5114.
