Thank you for your interest and taking the time to learn more about Clancco. This project was born out of our desire to create a space where the discourses and practices of art, visual culture, and law could be explored. During our existence, many of you have expressed an interest in contributing to our mission. Thus, we have now established a fiscal sponsorship which will allow us to accept tax-deductible donations to fund research regarding art and law issues, compensate independent writers and interviewees for their contributions to Clancco.com, as well as aid in establishing our Art + Law archive.

With the proliferation of visual culture and the globalization of artistic practices, the importance of law on these two visual practices is becoming increasingly complex and challenging. Simultaneously, we have noticed that internet publishing has become progressively important to the dissemination of viewpoints concerning the effects of legal frameworks and power structures on the production and reception of visual culture.

In this light, Clancco is now accepting tax-deductible donations in order to increase its news coverage of events related to art and law by commissioning, and thus paying, independent writers, legal scholars and artists to write for Clancco.com. By doing so, Clancco will not only continue to keep you abreast of legal issues affecting the arts, but also expand writings in its Summary Judgment Department to include art exhibitions and films dealing with law and legal structures.

Additionally, all tax-deductible donations will aid Clancco in creating an archive of visual and written materials (books, articles, slides, digital images, films, videos) which relate through practice and in theory with the effects of law on diverse visual practices (architecture, film, visual art). This archive will be made available to the general public in order to help further our investigation of law via visual mediums. Although our “space” at the moment is located in the digital world known as the web, we are now also in the process of finding Clancco a physical location.

Thus, we kindly ask that you help Clancco in this ongoing project by making a donation. Please know that there is no such thing as a donation that is too small, as every little bit helps.

Clancco is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Clancco may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax- deductible to the extent permitted by law.
