The Better Futures of Architecture, by Roberto Mangabeira Unger

Roberto Mangabeira Unger, Roscoe Pound Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, focuses his research on legal, political, and social theory. His books include: O Futuro da Democracia e do Direito; False Necessity: Antinecessitarian Social Theory in the Service of Radical Democracy; A Segunda Via: Presente e Futuro do Brasil; Democracy Realized: The Progressive Alternative; and more recently, What Should the Left Propose? Professor Unger’s work is directed to the reshaping of present institutions as well as to a re-orientation of our experience and a re-interpretation of our ideals. This transformative intention, animated by a committed interest in unrealized human opportunity, unifies his writings. Professor Unger received his B.A. from the Universidad Federal de Rio Janeiro, and he received his LL.M. and S.J.D. from Harvard Law School.
